Collier's A Rockstar!

So we tackled the daytime potty training back in December, I was overjoyed at this accomplishment! I'm not sure how I changed diapers that long! Well I had been nervous to try nighttime potty training, mainly because Cortlyn was a bed wetter and I just assumed Collier would be too. We did the pull-ups at night and at first he had more wet nights then dry which is to be expected! Then I started realizing he was having 5 to 6 dry nights a week...so about three weeks ago we took the plunge and went with underwear at night, he's never looked back! He's a complete Potty Trained Rockstar! Not one accident since we began, I couldn't be prouder of him!

The Unexpected Carnival

Saturday we were up bright and early for our niece Elle's birthday party, the House of Bounce...so fun, it's beginning to rate up there next to Chuck E. Cheese! Regardless, it was a good time for the kids and because it was an early start we had the rest of the day to mess around. D.H. saw an anouncement for a "festival" in Webb City, so after a yummy lunch, we headed that way to see what it was all about. It's fair to say it was somewhat overstated as a "festival" but we didn't really have plans for the day anyway. Then we rounded the corner to find a carnival...Collier was in heaven! I bought tickets and he had a hayday riding the kiddy rides for 30 minutes and it was just enough to have him snoring away on the car ride home! It's the simple things in life!

Into Our Hearts~Dance Recital 2009

Cortlyn had her dance recital this past weekend...dress rehearsal Friday night and then two shows on Saturday. This was the first year we've done two exact shows, but our crowds were getting so big that our venue couldn't hold everyone for one show! Of course that's an exciting predicament! So the girls had a morning recital and an evening recital, both of which went fantastic!
Cortlyn was in three dances this year...the first was "Pollito Chicken" a sassy Spanish number for her tap routine. She enjoyed this one and the costume was probably my favorite of the three. Her second number was her favorite, "Get in the Game" from High School Musical; D.H. and I could have probably sang and danced this number we've seen it so many times at home, but as you can imagine it was a basketball number that was really cute! Cortlyn's last dance was a bit strange, "Down to Earth" from the movie Wall-E, all the girls dressed as robots...head to toe silver! She wasn't fond of that costume, but she liked the dance.
She did really well and enjoyed herself, which really is all that matters! In addition to Cortlyn we had four nieces and multiple family friends in this recital...so it was a fun-filled day!

"Pollito Chicken" ~ She looks very sassy, doesn't she!?

"Get In The Game" (HSM)~ Loved these costumes!

"Down to Earth"(Wall-E)~ Not sure sure about these costumes! But they made great robots!

D.H. and Cortlyn recital night!

Me and Cortlyn recital night!

We have Cortlyn's professional photos in a couple weeks, so I'll be posting those later as well!

Happy Easter!

We had an odd Holiday this year...but I don't really want to dwell on that fact!
Our family had a good Easter weekend...it was rainy so most of our plans went South, but we were healthy, happy, and together and that's all that really mattered!
Sunday morning the kids woke to find the Easter Bunny had in fact come to our home and left them goody baskets and hidden eggs! They had a great time finding everything. Then we went to church and then to lunch with my Grandma! It was an enjoyable day!

Collier Meets the Dentist!

Today was Collier's first dentist appointment! Let me preface my story by saying that I L-O-V-E, Love the dentist! Always have, always will! My D.H. (Dear Husband) on the other hand Loathes the dentist...can't stand the place or even the sheer thought of going. So it was very important to me that my sweet, loving D.H. stay as far away from this situation as possible!
I talked the dentist up for two weeks at least, telling Collier how much fun it would be, what all the dentist might do that day, etc! So today was the big day...we arrived at the office and he's a little unsure at first. Then we get called back and he gets to sit in the "cool chair" and there are cartoons on in the room while he waits, which was awesome for my little guy. Then he arrives...the dentist! Collier did so great! He didn't really want to chat it up with the guy, but he opened his mouth, let them check his teeth and even clean them! They were very impressed with the little patient! So we totally headed over to Target for a "great job present"! Wish I had pictures...I tried, but Collier wasn't having it and I didn't want to rock the boat!

Cortlyn's Ultimate Birthday Surprise!

So you might be thinking...wait didn't Cortlyn just have a birthday not that long ago!? And you would be correct...her birthday is in August, so why am I talking about a Birthday Surprise in April?? Great question!

Mark and I got tickets to the Taylor Swift concert at the BOK Center in Tulsa, the concert isn't until September so we were going to make the tickets a surprise for her birthday! Well the excitement was too much for the two of us, so we decided to tell her early! I guess I should mention that Cortlyn loves and I mean, over the top, LOVES Taylor Swift. She has both her CD's and we have the pleasure of listening to them 24/7! So when we gave her the tickets...she was hysterical, the excitement was over the top! I wish I would have video taped the reaction instead of just taking pictures, because they don't do her reaction justice at all!

Not quite sure what she's looking at! (sorry for the blur!)

What?? Tickets to who!? Not really!

"Are you joking?? Is this a joke?"

OMG! OMG! Taylor Swift! For Real!

And so commenced the running around the house, running outside in the front yard, yells, screams, and honestly nearly tears at this surprise! It was completely worth giving them to her early! She's on cloud nine!

Missouri's Largest Garage Sale

Yes! Neosho is on the map...known for Missouri's Largest Garage Sale! Sad but oh so true and I was one of the many crazy residents who participated. It's such hard work preparing for this ridiculous event, but the money you make usually makes you feel better and this year was of no exception! We didn't have much this year considering that we sold nearly a houseful last year, thanks to our impromptu move to a smaller home. So we decided to join forces with my SIL (sister-in-law) and my FIL (father-in-law) and man did they have a bunch of stuff! We were up before the sun on Saturday and believe me so were the many "vultures"! It was a hard days work, but fun and financially rewarding in the end!
